The Best Of The Weekend: 6/8 Edition


Our pre Nationals week was a good weekend overall. While we didn't have a whole lot in terms of meets, the few meets that we had were impactful across the state. We look at some of the best performances that the weekend produced along with a bit of NCAA action.


AAU Central District Qualifier -

  • Molly Mocko (6th, Glen Ellyn [St. Petronille]) wins the 12yo Girls 1500m in 4:58.02. She also won the 12yo Girls 800m in 2:23.15.

  • Gabrille McKinney (6th, Chicago [Beasley]) wins the 13yo Girls 200m in 24.82. Eniece Danzy (7th, Chicago [Beasley]) was 2nd in 25.21.

  • Brisline Lankah (8th, Plainfield [John F. Kennedy]) wins the 14yo Girls 200m in 25.00.

  • Mariyah Robinson (So., Chicago [Simeon]) wins the 15-16yo Girls 200m in 24.15. London Willingham (Fr., Homewood-Flossmoor) was 2nd in 24.93.

  • Dontrell Young (Fr., Oswego) wins the 15-16yo Boys 200m in 22.04. Young also won the 400m in 49.68.

  • Taylor McClain (Jr., Plainfield North) wins the 17-18yo Girls 200m in 24.78.

  • Supreme Muhammad (Sr., Winnebago) wins the 17-18yo Boys 200m in 21.24.

  • Aurora Flyers win the 14yo Girls 4x100m in 49.89.

  • Gabrille McKinney (6th, Chicago [Beasley]) wins the 13yo Girls 400m in 57.35. Eniece Danzy (7th, Chicago [Beasley]) was 2nd in 58.64.

  • Brisline Lankah (8th, Plainfield [John F. Kennedy]) wins the 14yo Girls 400m in 59.43.

  • Zaven Johnson (8th, Manhattan) wins the 14yo Boys 400m in 50.98.

  • Mariyah Robinson (So., Chicago [Simeon]) wins the 15-16yo Girls 400m in 56.32. She also wins the 100m in 12.13.

  • Dedrick Richardson Jr. (Sr., Frankfort [Lincoln Way East]) wins the 17-19yo Mens Triple Jump with a leap of 46-00 (14.02m)


Kankakee Summer Invite -

  • Katelyn Lehnen (Jr., Chatham-Glenwood) wins the 15-18yo 100m and 200m in 11.78 (-2.2) and 24.31 (-2.7)

  • Madelyn Marx (So., Mahomet-Seymour) wins the 15-18yo 400m in 57.17.

  • Layla Bonilla (Jr., Chicago [Whitney Young]) wins the 15-18yo Triple Jump with a jump of 38-6.50 (11.75m). Kee'Lani Whitlock (Jr., Chicago [Kenwood]) takes 2nd with a jump of 38-0.50 (11.60m)


NCAA D1 Track & Field Nationals (First Team All-American Honors) -

  • Jayden Ulrich (Jr., University of Louisville/East Alton-Wood River) takes 2nd in the Womens Discus with a throw of 206-10. Ulrich also took 4th in the Womens Shot Put with a throw of 58-8.50.

  • Dajour Miles (Sr., University of Tennessee/West Aurora) takes 2nd in the Womens 4x400m as part of her teams 3:23.32 effort.

  • Jenelle Rogers (Sr., Ball State University/Oswego) takes 4th in the Womens Hepthalon with a score of 5991

  • Tyler Suddeth (Sr., University of Illinois/Rich Twp) takes 7th in the Mens Shot Put with a throw of 64-6.50.

  • Tori Thomas (Jr., University of Illinois/Rock Island [Alleman]) takes 7th in the Girls Pole Vault with a vault of 14-5.25.

  • Marcellus Moore (Sr., University of Texas/Plainfield) takes 5th in the Mens 4x100m as part of his teams 38.99 effort.
