Pre-Season Previews: 3A Girls Unranked

We finally have gotten to the last classification in the state as the we start to preview the largest division 3A! Many coaches responded with information here about their teams so enjoy and see some of the squads that may enter the rankings this season.

Hampshire

Head Coach/Coaches: Ryan Hollister / Cindy Wagner

Last Year's Finish: 8th @ IHSA 3A Lake Park Sectional

Key Returners: Annabelle Haskins (Jr.), Hannah Jones (Sr.), Kassidy Papa (Sr.), Cameron Shaw (So.), Kaley Byhre (Jr.), Kate Donnelly (So.), Maddie Butcher (Jr.)

New Additions: Natassa Papadakis (Jr., Transfer from Neuqua Valley), Cassie Gatza (Fr.), Aliyah Avila (Fr.)

Unexpected Losses: Hudson Szymonik (Sr., Transferred to Jacobs)

Coach Hollister's Outlook: There has been incredible turnout for the summer and a lot of enthusiasm from the girls.  We have a group with a lot of experience competing at the varsity level in high-stakes meets.  If we stay healthy and continue to improve, we can compete for the FVC championship, regional championship, and have a chance at qualifying for state.  We've joined some more competitive invites this season.  Although we probably won't win as many invitationals as last year, I think the improved competition will help prepare our runners for the postseason.

Bradley-Bourbonnais

Head Coach/Coaches: Allison LoCascio / Dan Bennet

Last Year's Finish: 15th @ 3A Granite City Sectional

Key Returners: Madeline Mellin (Sr.), Nora Hyma (So.), Ailey McCann (So.), Morgan Reddy (Sr.), Mikayla Ryan (Sr.), Sarah Bouferrache (Jr.), Brynn Dowding (Sr.)

New Additions: Norah Bouferrache (So.), Reese Freedland (Sr.)

Coach LoCascio's Outlook: Last year the girls went to sectionals as a team. Each of the athletes who joined us in Southern Illinois had fantastic races including many PRs. I believe that has given the girls an expectation that great things are possible for our smaller team. I know many of them, and myself included, have high expectations for growth and are hoping to see similar outcomes, if not better. Our goal this year is to garnish more of a team-oriented mindset. Our girls are great as individuals, but would improve more if they worked together when competing. We are focusing on the mental game of running and competing to grow confidence in ourselves and our teammates.

Vernon Hills

Head Coach/Coaches: Christopher Wolf / Sara Zaher and Kristina Hauptmann

Last Year's Finish: 10th @ 3A Hoffman Estates Sectional

Key Returners: Jori Ellen (Sr.), Ella Ollinger (So.), Daniella Anez Gomez (Sr.), Naina Mather (So.), Ami Pan (So.), Izzy Wakefield (Sr.), Jillian Leuck (Jr.), Haley Clegg (Sr.)

Coach Wolf's Outlook: Losing senior front-runner Anna Lester to graduation (CSL Champion and 4th at IHSA 3A State Meet), the Cougars look to returning Senior Jori Ellen and Junior Ella Ollinger to lead the team this year. They have put in a great summer's worth of training with the goal of running at Detweiller in November. Returning senior Daniella Anez Gomez and sophomores Naina Mather and Ami Pan will provide valuable experience entering this season with hopes of returning to the very competitive 3A Sectional at Bussee Woods. Returning seniors Izzy Wakefield, Haley Clegg, and Junior Jillian Leuck should help the Cougars continue to complete at a high level in the CSL North and IHSA State Series.

Romeoville

Head Coach/Coaches: Chuck Yucuis / Will Gommel

Last Year's Finish: 8th @ 3A Andrew Regional

Key Returners: Sophia Flowers (Sr.), Julia Okonski (Sr.), Leslie Puente (Sr.), Elena Gonzalez (So.), Selene Alvarez (So.), Emily Rog (Jr.)

New Additions: Jasmin Alcantar (Fr.)

Coach Yucuis' Outlook: We have always been a small team of around 14-16 girls. At times last year we couldn’t fill a JV team for meets. This year, based on summer attendance we could fall into the same situation but I’m hopeful at the beginning of the school year we will have some incoming freshman and some sophomore sign ups. As it stands right now, this year we will have four seniors, five juniors, four sophomores and a couple freshman. Summer running has had some good numbers with some athletes showing great signs of improvement from last year and this past track season. I have been pushing longer endurance runs and tempo workouts which has seemed to build some stronger confidence in the girls. Julie Okonski has made significant strides this summer running with our top girl Sophia Flowers. Sophia qualified for the state meet as a sophomore two years ago. She had a summer injury last year which sidelined her for the first part of the season. She qualified for sectionals but missed qualifying for state last year by seconds.

St. Charles East

Head Coach/Coaches: Brad Kaplan / Brandon Wilkerson

Last Year's Finish: 14th @ 3A Lake Park Sectional

Key Returners: Nicole Mayer (So.), Ellis Mueller (Sr.), Amalia Im (Jr.), Amelia Iwanski (Sr.), Savannah Jackson (Sr.), Kaitlyn Kreeger (Sr.), Ruby Garcia (So.)

New Additions: Lilly Margewich (So.), Leah Sutherland (Fr.), Adley Wilson (Fr.)

Coach Kaplan's Outlook: We've had a great summer, many athletes could impact the varsity top 7 by the end of the season. Nicole Mayer and Ellis Mueller will lead this team and I'm excited to see who steps up and takes those spots on varsity. We're going to be very young possibly by the championship season.

Deerfield

Head Coach: Jeff Beaumont

Last Year's Finish: 12th @ 3A Hoffman Estates Sectional

Key Returners: Olivia Brown (Jr.), Natalia Arevalo (Jr.), Azalea Modes (So.), Maddie Geres (So.), Audrey Dickerson (So.), Maya Garcia (Sr.), Randi Tye (Sr.)

Coach Beaumont's Outook: The summer training has been going very well.  We have what we call "positive peer pressure" happening frequently.  For example, we were doing some hills the other day and a couple girls wanted to do one more than the workout called for.  They took off up the hill, and without much thought the others looked at them and followed suit.  With that kind of contagious effort and keeping the injuries away, we look to improve on our 12th place finish from Busse Woods Sectional last year.

Collinsville

Head Coach/Coaches: Adam Blair / Derek. Freeman

Last Year's Finish: 12th @ 3A Alton Regional

Key Returners: Danielle Cary (Sr.), Morgan Laing (Sr.), Catalina Jimenez (Sr.), Claire Garkie (Jr.)

New Additions: Deairrica Tillman (Jr.), Sadie Demick (So.), Quinn Hall (So.)

Coach Blair's Outlook: I am feeling very positive with my team so far. We have had the best turnout since I have started coaching ( I was the assistant for 6 years). Plus the girls have been more consistent, motivated, and competitive than ever before. Our summer consists of 25 days of team training (per IHSA rule). We meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays at 7:30 am. We like to just push consistency in mileage early on in the summer. So we focus more on mileage in the month of June and begin to involve some more workouts in the months of July and August. My team has 3 seniors, 2 juniors, and 2 sophomores in my top 7. I think the girls will all have their best seasons yet. The upperclassmen have all bought in and had their best and most consistent summers. The new girls are all showing some promise. I am hopeful to have a few all conference athletes as the season moves forward. On top of that, I would like to see a team or a few individuals advance to the sectional met.

Roselle (Lake Park)

Head Coach/Coaches: Jay Ivory / Andrea LaRocca and Steve Ellenbecker

Last Year's Finish: 7th @ 3A St. Charles East Regional

Key Returners: Brynn Ellenbecker (Sr.), Ruth Dellaria (So.), Lillian Potts (So.), Julianna Selvaggio (Jr.), Gabriella Glodz (Sr.), Yana Zraychuk (Jr.), Isabella Asenova (Sr.)

New Additions: Vivienne Stojanovic (Fr.), Dominka Potok (Fr.)

Unexpected Losses: Marissa Furlano (Sr.)

Coach Ivory's Outlook: Based on the summer we are having, I expect that we will be a much improved team this season.  We will have key contributors from all 4 classes.  I look forward to us running as a much tighter pack than in the past.

Northbrook (Glenbrook North)

Head Coach/Coaches: Bob LeBlanc / Bryan Musolf and Kelly McClearn

Last Year's Finish: 14th @ 3A Hoffman Estates Sectional

Key Returners: Maria Polyakov (Sr.), Nicole Golebiowski (Jr.), Payton Walker (So.), Vivien Qian (Sr.), Rosie Rhee (So.), Abby Strongin (Sr.), Gabriela Tamamidis (Jr.)

Coach LeBlanc's Outlook: We have had the best "buy in over the summer" that we've had in quite a few years.  The girls are doing a great job, and it's been fun to see the returning runners grow and some new faces starting to run with them.  I never like to put out specific names this early, but we're looking forward to building on our success from last year with some higher team finishes throughout the season. Over the summer the girls have built a much better base, so we're able to run a bit further.  In turn, since we're in better shape, we've been able to incorporate some speed into the summer training, which has been a nice change from the past few years.

O'Fallon

Head Coach/Coaches: Neil James / Megan Meckfessel

Last Year's Finish: 9th @ 3A Granite City Sectional

Key Returners: Ellie Bush (Jr.), Mae Naveira (So.), Madelyn Lane (So.), Autumn Gavin (Jr.), Kayla Kalmer (So.), Hannah Lewis (Jr.), Ava Thunig (Jr.), Ella Andrews (Jr.)

New Additions: Sophia Shattls (Sr.), Gwen Wolf (Fr.), Alexia Donohue (Fr.)

Coach James' Outlook: As I mentioned we have one of our best summers over the past 5 years. We a good group of girls that have committed to being better and have put in the work this summer. We adjusted our strength work this summer and it has made a big mpact so far. We return our top 6 runners from last season so we are very excited about this fall. Our top 3 runners (Bush, Naviera, and Lane) have really set the tone for the rest of the team and are pushing everyone. I would say this is also the most cohesive that our team has been for the past few years. We are very excited to compete this fall.

Rockton (Hononegah)

Head Coach/Coaches: Jorge Pichardo / Tim Wiltshire

Last Year's Finish: 10th @ 3A Lake Park Sectional

Key Returners: Kylie Simpson (Jr.), Keila Borges Aragon (Sr.), Sophia Frommer (So.), Averi Bronnimann (Jr.), Salem Rauh (Jr.), Jayden Lake (Jr.)

New Additions: Lucinda Hodges (Fr.)

Coach Pichardo's Outlook: This summer has been productive for our team as we prepare for a rebuilding year after losing a significant group of seniors. While this season will be different, I’m optimistic about our mix of experienced returning athletes and enthusiastic newcomers. The performances at Detweiller at Dark were promising, especially considering we were still missing some key runners. I believe this blend of talent and determination will allow us to grow stronger as the season progresses. I’m excited to see how our athletes develop and rise to the challenges ahead, and I’m confident they can carve out their own identity this year.

New Lenox (Lincoln-Way West)

Head Coach/Coaches: Matt Bowden / Dillan Harness and Sarah Zarnowski

Last Year's Finish: 18th @ 3A Granite City Sectional

Key Returners: Chloe Miller (Sr.), Ellie Trench (Jr.), Makenna Zitkus (Sr.), Kylie Ludwig (Sr.), Emma Haegele (Sr.), Payton Guendling (So.)

New Additions: Kate Lemke (Fr.), Lizzie Lemke (Fr.)

Coach Bowden's Outlook: Having Chloe Miller back on the team will be huge for the squad. She missed her junior season while recovering from hip surgery, and she had a solid comeback season during track last spring. That gives us the #1 runner we missed last season. If other seniors can match her effort and intensity, we can break into the top half of the SWSC Conference.

Plainfield Central

Head Coach/Coaches: Jeff Purdom / Emily Brodko, Kyle Draghi

Last Year's Finish:

Key Returners: Bridget Kemp (Sr.), Ella Ruland (So.), Sophie Salkas (So.), Emily Fannin (So.), Lydia Velazquez (Sr.), Cyan Bradley (Sr.)

New Additions: Selah Fornelli (Fr.), Nessa Rodriguez (Fr.)

Coach Purdom's Outlook: The story of this season will be the power of the pack, the team's 2 through 9 runners could be interchangeable on any given day. The girls do a great job of pushing each other in training every day and we will see that same mindset on the grass this fall. This team will have more depth than the previous few seasons, and that depth will play a big role in the success of the girls this year.

Libertyville

Head Coach/Coaches: Annemarie Sampson / Elizabeth Risdon

Last Year's Finish: 17th @ 3A Hoffman Estates Sectional

Key Returners: Julia Garrison (So.), Rosemary Inga (Sr.), Sophia Krummick (Jr.), Claire Erdman (Sr.), Natalie Schlitt (Sr.), Violet Young (So.), Caitlyn Griffith (Jr.)

New Additions: Julia Abraham (Sr.), Elsie Colin (Fr.)

Coach Sampson's Outlook: The 2024 season holds great promise for our team. With motivated athletes, a supportive environment, and clear objectives, we are poised to achieve significant milestones. Our varsity program, in particular, has a strong desire to showcase their talent and determination, aiming for a return to the state meet as a team. We are confident that with hard work, dedication, and a collective effort, the 2024 season will be a remarkable journey of growth, achievement, and success for LHS cross country.

Homewood-Flossmoor

Head Coach/Coaches: Hailey Baumstein / Larry Dawson is my assistant coach

Last Year's Finish: 9th @ 3A Andrew Regional

Key Returners: Tolani Babawale (Sr.), Heaven Rousse (Jr.), Lilia Abramczyk (So.), Carrington Hughes (So.)

New Additions: Matilyn Terrell (Sr.), Makayla Schulman (Fr.), Jerni Mahone (So.), Saafia Douglas (Fr.)

Coach Baumstein's Outlook: Honestly, our team has really run in a solid pack this summer. I believe that beyond our first one or two runners, our top 5 will cycle amongst those top 8 runners. We have two talented freshmen joining us, 2 seniors (1 new) who have put in substantial work, and a solid pack of juniors and sophomores who work together really well. I am hoping for a great year given the work they've put in this summer.

LaGrange (Lyons)

Head Coach/Coaches: Eric Simon / Greg Frandsen, Luke Taylor, Dina Castillo

Last Year's Finish: 12th @ IHSA 3A State

Key Returners: Jenna Lally (Jr.), Mya Coglianes (Jr.), Annika McDonnell (Jr.), Ainsley Grove (Jr.), Clarrisa Gonzalez (Sr.)

Coach Simon's Outlook: LT will most certainly be a different look then the past few years.  This very inexperienced team will have a lot to learn and growing pains along the way.  Our goal will simply be to see growth each week and improvement from the start of the season to the end.

Orland Park (Sandburg)

Head Coach/Coaches: Tony Pena / Janine Wilkins, Bridget Driscoll, Elizabeth Venezio

Last Year's Finish: 10th @ IHSA 3A State

Key Returners: Emma Kanagy (Jr.), Kelli Ellis (Jr.), Annika Trehan (So.), Emily Sayger (So.), Angelina Arroyo (So.), Lyla Schanz (So.), Isabella Van Alst (So.), Rachel Juers (Sr.), Katie Bordelon (So.), Katie Ahmer (So.), Anna Harbut (So.)

New Additions: Eva Zimmerman (Sr.)

Unexpected Losses: Lindsey Gerhardstein (Jr.)

Coach Pena's Outlook: We graduated a great senior class this past spring. As a result, our returning girls are largely unproven at the Varsity level. However I am very excited to go to battle with these ladies this fall. They have been working very hard and understand the responsibility that is now upon them. I think they will open a lot of eyes this fall.  In Emma Kanagy, Kelli Ellis, Eva Zimmerman and Annika Trehan, I believe we have a very competitive top 4. Those 4 girls had great track seasons and summers. The question for us will be who settles in as our 5,6,7? We have a large pool of girls in contention, all of which have been working very hard this summer. It will be fun to see how those spots shake out.

Springfield

Head Coach/Coaches: Trae Cotner / Danny Stults

Last Year's Finish: 17th @ 3A Granite City Sectional

Key Returners: Mia Volpert (Sr.), Nola Sommer (Sr.), Lydia Cliburn (Sr.), Keziah Toran (Sr.), Ava Fultz (So.), Grace Anselment (Jr.), Kayden Arjsamat (Jr.)

Unexpected Losses: Phoebe Barnes (Jr.)

Coach Cotner's Outlook: Our season will be a work in progress.  We have a solid front runner in Mia Volpert and a big gap to our pack.  Our goal is to cut down on that gap and hopefully be at our best when we get to the conference meet on our home course.

Skokie (Niles West)

Head Coach/Coaches: Anne Heselton / Nikki Reynolds, Tony Konsewicz, Jason Macejak

Last Year's Finish: 8th @ 3A Oak Park River Forest Regional

Key Returners: Lena Schultz (Sr.), Teresa Gattuso (Jr.), Sheila Mehtarkhel (Jr.), Maise Parylak (So.)

New Additions: Bella Mohip (Fr.), Layla Kane (Fr.), Bethany Afework (Fr.)

Coach Heselton's Outlook: We graduated 3 seniors that were consistently in our top 7 over the past 4 seasons. This year, we are looking to see who can fill those shoes. The freshmen as a group show much potential.  Through our summer workouts the girls have formed strong bonds with each other. We are looking forward to seeing their success this season.

Palatine (Fremd)

Head Coach/Coaches: Joseph Marcin / Rachel Dziagwa

Last Year's Finish: 11th @ 3A Hoffman Estates Sectional

Key Returners: Isa Hasty (Jr.), Addie Dietrich (So.), Sia Purohit (Sr.), Allison Price (Sr.), Alisha Kuehner (So.), Linaya Donnelly (So.)

New Addtions: Emma Kelly (Fr.), Helen Hermann (Fr.), Riley Gaan (Fr.)

Coach Marcin's Outlook: We will have a strong 1,2,3 runners. Looking forward to seeing which athletes will make the next spots. Our 4-7 runners will most likely change often as girls gain experience throughout the season. Many talented incoming freshman will be capable of joining the mix. Our last qualifying team was 2019.

DeKalb

Head Coach/Coaches: Mike Wolf / Valerie Freeman and Michael Franckowiak

Last Year's Finish: 16th @ 3A Lake Park Sectional

Key Returners: Alex Schwantes (So.), Emily Gonzalez-Fernandez (Sr.), Brenda Aquino (Sr.), Sam Vander Bleek (So.), Iran Manriquez (Sr.), Christina Blanchard (Sr.), Maggie Martin (Sr.)

New Additions: Alina Arguello (Fr.), Ava Harmon (Jr.)

Coach Wolf's Outlook: We are going to have a nice mix of seniors with 2-3 years of varsity experience along with some freshman and sophomores pushing to lead our pack.  Alex Schwantes was a consistent #2 runner for us last year and I look for her to lead our group.  Our varsity results might not draw attention early because I’ll be keeping our younger girls at the f/s level at some invites.

Algonquin (Jacobs)

Head Coach/Coaches: Kevin Christian / Chris Keller, Michael Hanley, Tom Smith, Robbie Joe Underwood, Nick Spiro, Ruth Haworth

Last Year's Finish: 7th @ 3A Palatine Regional

Key Returners: Bailey Schwartz (Sr.), Kathleen Kania (Sr.), Mac Cronin (Jr.), Riley Warczak (Jr.), Megan Retzer (Sr.), Arann Lehman (So.), Honey Stanojev (Jr.), Matylda Maciejczyk (Jr.)

New Additions: Hudson Szymonik (Sr.), Jamie Lakeman (Fr.), Julia Felton (Fr.), Amisha Schlicht (Fr)

Coach Christian's Outlook: Compete with the top teams in the FVC.  Adding Hudson Szymonik changed everything as we move forward this year, and she can compete with anyone in the conference.  Seniors Schwartz and Kania can be a top 3 that can score lower than we've had in a couple years.  Our 4-5 are stronger than we've had and this is a team that can surprise people.

Aurora (Waubonsie Valley)

Head Coach/Coaches: Michelle Wicyk / Zach Benes

Last Year's Finish: 9th @ 3A Hinsdale Central Sectional

Key Returners: Lily Baibak (Sr.), Mia Bertolini (So.), Katherine Heap (Jr.), Marissa Martin (Sr.), Emely Galvez (Sr.), Riley Baack (Jr.), Katie Byers (Sr.), Brynn Vine (So.), Karishma Kamal (Jr.), Ariel Murphy (Jr.)

Coach Wicyk's Outlook: We are so excited to start our 24-25 season.  This summer our team has grown in strength and numbers.  Each week our athletes have been putting in the mileage to set us up for a great start to the season. Our focus has been on getting a mileage base and injury prevention/ strengthening.  We have two returning state qualifiers and many more that are out for a history making season. Many on the team are coming off of a strong track season and are hungry for more.

Berwyn-Cicero (Morton)

Head Coach/Coaches: Dan Bulster / Steph Juarez and Sarah Schoel

Last Year's Finish: 7th @ 3A Lyons Regional

Key Returners: Maribel Contreras (Jr.), Victoria Lopez (Sr.), Giselle Reveles (Sr.), Gabriela Gonzalez (Jr.), Kathy Cantu (Sr.), Valerie Ochoa (Sr.), Amya Marquez (Sr.), Ariana Aragon (Jr.)

Coach Bulster's Outlook: This group of junior and senior girls has been solid since their freshman year. They are high character girls who are truly best of friends. I am excited for them to now, as upperclassman, to truly call this “their team”. They are now leaders from whom we have high expectations. Maribel Contreras, Victoria Lopez, Giselle Reveles, Gabby Gonzalez, and Val Ochoa should lead this team and be our biggest point scorers. We are hoping for a surprise freshman to challenge these girls for points as well. This should be a fun group to coach.

Rock Island

Head Coach/Coaches: Susana Williams / Matthew Yeager Last Year's Finish: 14th @ 3A Granite City Sectional

Key Returners: Amelia Heine (So.), Ulana Richey (Jr.), Kylie Melchi (Sr.), Sonia Williams (So.), Sydnee Mosely (So.), Olivia Kargl (Sr.), Samanta Amaya (So.), Lucille Mass (So.)

New Additions: Martha Abuke (Jr.), Yazmyne Martinez (Jr.)

Coach Williams' Outlook: The team has the potential for a strong season, thanks to summer running, many new girls joining cross country, and several returning athletes ready to compete within the team and against other teams. Sophomore Amelia will be trying to keep pushing her limits as Senior and captain Kylie will be looking to challenge her. Junior Ulana has shown she is ready to pick up the pace after a strong track season and Sophomore Sonia is determined to keep getting stronger and bringing her times down.  Many girls are ready to start challenging each other for their spots.  We are excited to see them work hard this season.

Mundelein Head Coach/Coaches: Carsyn Rodriguez / Karen Stitcher

Last Year's Finish: 9th @ 3A Grant Regional

Key Returners: Brooklyn D'Ambrosio (Jr.), Precious Oyebanji (Jr.), Chloe Engelbrecht (Jr.), Viviana Gonzalez (Sr.), Vanessa Dirzo (Jr.)

New Additions: Katelyn Tomas (Fr.), Hannah Roberts (Sr.)

Coach Rodriguez's Outlook: This summer, our team not only worked on building an aerobic base, but forming and maintaining healthy habits that will hopefully carry over into the season. We have a variety of levels of experience and talent on the team and a particularly large group of veteran juniors who can be good role models for others. Our goals are to continue to see growth and progress from everyone on the team and be as competitive as possible in our conference and into the State Series. We also have always had a really positive team culture and I expect that will continue this season as well.

Carol Stream (Glenbard North)

Head Coach/Coaches: Eric Day / Gary Heilers

Last Year's Finish: 12th @ St. Charles East Regional

Key Returners: Peyton Marshall (Jr.), Jazlene Korsch (So.), Melissa Gomez (So.), Julia Narlock (So.)

New Additions: Alaina Bylykbashi (Fr.), Keairah Kingcade (So.)

Coach Day's Outlook: We have a solid group of young runners who have committed to the necessary preparation this summer. This season will be a chance for them to learn the confidence necessary to race fast and to see what a big summer of training can lead to. This group is small (4) so we will be looking for some additional athletes to step up and compete at the varsity level.

Oswego East

Head Coach/Coaches: Lisa Cook / Steve Ideran and Kelly Yunk

Last Year's Finish: 15th @ IHSA 3A State

Ley Returners: Macy Dick (So.), Olivia Van Denend (Sr.), Emma Berglund (Sr.), Annie Schiltz (Sr.), Ashley Gumm (Jr.), Julia Burney (Jr.), Izzy Daguinsin (Sr.), Mae Robinson (Sr.), Jiana Busby (So.), Maya Langel (So.), Mia Blankenburg (Sr.), Gisselle Juarez (So.)

Coach Cook's Outlook: We have a really large senior class this year, and they are leading the team in so many ways.  Olivia, Annie, and Emma return with state meet experience and have really come together as a group throughout last fall, spring, and summer.  We have a lot of returners looking to move up, like Ashley Gumm, Julia Burney, Izzy Daguinsin, Jiana Busby, Mae Robinson, and Mia Blankenburg to name a few.  Macy Dick is looking ready for the season to begin and really thrives once we start racing.  We have goals to continually surpass the best team finish at State, and we hope to surpass last year’s 15th place team finish.  We are looking forward to a great year!

McHenry

Head Coach/Coaches: Kevin Horst / Kristen Karnick and Dean Roehrborn

Last Year's Finish: 7th @ 3A Grant Regional

Key Returners: Lauren Blake (Sr.), Laila Corzo (Sr.), Delaina Floden (So.), Hailey Townsend (So.), Nina Textor (So.), Taylor Carpenter (So.), Mikayla Kellogg (So.)

New Additions: Lexi Danz (So.)

Coach Horst's Outlook: I’m really looking forward to this season. It is a new era for our team. We had some very good runners come through the program in 2019-2023 and the last of that crew has graduated, so 2024 is a program reset in many ways. The girls have really gone all in with training over the summer so it should be a fun year.
