Conference Championships Week Preview


Its Conference Week for high school compeitiors at least for the most part. There were some conference meets that took place this past week and some schools without conference championships. We break down every conference coming up this week.


Tuesday

Apollo Conference

Location: Mt. Zion Intermediate School

Boys Teams: 2A- #10 Mahomet-Seymour, #20 Mt. Zion, #25 Taylorville; Charleston, Effingham, Mattoon

Girls Teams: 2A- #20 Mahomet-Seymour; Charleston, Effingham, Mt. Zion, Taylorville, Mattoon

Breakdown: On the boys side this will be a great test between Mahomet-Seymour and Mt. Zion for the team win. Individually watch for Liam Bettis of Taylorville, Daniel Grauer of Mt. Zion, and Augustus Gaudio of Mahomet-Seymour. On the girls side it looks to be Mahomet-Seymour's race to lose. Expect Taylor Mills of Mahomet-Seymour to walk awy with the team win.


Chicago Prep Conference

Location: Westmont High School

Teams: Chicago (Cristo Rey Jesuit), Chicago (Holy Trinity), Deerfield (Rochelle Zell), Melrose Park (Walther Christian), Chicago (Josephinum) Chicago (Providence St. Mel), Skokie (Ida Crown), Westmont

Breakdown: This will be a close race on the boys team side with Westmont and Deerfield (Rochelle Zell) entering very evenly matched. Rochelle Zell has the favorite in this race in Adin Gillers who should easily win the individual race. On the girls side it looks to be Skokie (Ida Crown) who seems to be the overwhelming favorite here. Kyla Babb looks to win the individual race with ease in their first season in the conference.


National Trail Conference

Location: Community Park; Effingham, IL

Boys Teams: Altamont, Cowden-Herrick, Louisville (North Clay), Dieterich, Effingham (St. Anthony), Neoga

Girls Teams: 1A- #21 Effingham (St. Anthony); Altamont, Cowden-Herrick, Louisville (North Clay), Dieterich, Neoga

Breakdown: It will be difficult seeing anyone but Effingham (St. Anthony) winning the boys team race. They are led by Julius Ramos who will also challenge for the individual win. August Cosart of Cowden-Herrick will also be in the running for that individual win. On the girls side Effingham (St. Anthony) will have the first two runners in the race with highly ranked Isabella Keller and Aubrey Denning both being on their team. They could potentially score under 20 points here.


Southwestern Conference

Location: SIU-E Cross Country Course; Edwardsville, IL

Boys Teams: 3A- #3 Edwardsville; Alton, Belleville East, East St. Louis, Belleville West, Collinsville, O'Fallon

Girls Teams: 3A- #18 Edwardsville; O'Fallon, Alton, Belleville East, East St. Louis, Belleville West, Collinsville

Breakdown: The boys team race seems to be an easy choice here as Edwardsville looks to easily be the best team in the field. O'Fallon could potentially pull a surprise after being highly ranked during the preseason. Their season hasn't been as advertised up to this point in the season, but could turn it around here. Zach Thoman of O'Fallon looks to be the favorite in this race. Gavin Rodgers of Edwardsville and Brayden Kloeppel of O'Fallon are both quality runners that will be in the mix as well for the individual win. On the girls side it will be a great team battle between Edwardsville and O'Fallon. Both teams are very evenly matched. O'Fallon will be helped by the individual favorite Ellie Bush who looks to be clear favorite to win this race.


Vermillion Valley Conference

Location: Kickapoo State Park; Danville, IL

Teams: Armstrong, Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin, Chrisman, Hoopeston Area, Wateska, Westville, Danville (Schlarman), Fithian (Oakwood), Gilman (Iroquois West)

Breakdown: The boys team race will be a tight battle between Fithian (Oakwood) and Hoopeston Area. Single digit points look to separate these two programs. Andrew McTaggart of Wateska and Thomas Wells of Fithian (Oakwood) will be involved in a to the wire race for the individual title as well. On the girls side it will be Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin and Fithian (Oakwood) competing for the team win. Callie Richardson of Fithian (Oakwood) is the clear favorite in the individual race.


Thursday

Central Illinois Conference

Location: Wimple Park; Tuscola, IL

Boys Teams: 1A - #20 Clinton, #21 Tuscola; Shelbyville, Macon (Meridian), Moweaqua (Central A&M), Warrensburg-Latham

Girls Teams: 1A- #6 Shelbyville; Clinton, Tuscola, Macon (Meridian), Moweaqua (Central A&M), Warrensburg-Latham

Breakdown: In the boys team race it's Clinton who enters the meet as the favorite here over the home team Tuscola who will also be in competition for the win here. Individually the race will be between teammates Blake McLeese and Xander Nmeatu for the conference individual title from Tuscola. Tuscola could potentially go 1-2-3 in this race and still lose the conference meet based off how their 4 and 5 perform. On the girls side its Shelbyville who is the overall favorite here and it will be hard seeing them lose this race if at full strength. Kate Foltz of Tuscola looks to be the individual champion here after handily beating Tessa Bowers at the Spartan Classic. Bowers could bounce back still though and give Foltz a run for her money.


Mississippi Valley Conference

Location: Principia College; Elsah, IL

Boys Teams: 2A- #11 Highland, #19 Mascoutah, #23 Bethalto (Civic Memorial); Belleville (Althoff Catholic), Troy (Triad), Jerseyville (Jersey), Waterloo

Girls Teams: 2A- #12 Waterloo; Belleville (Althoff Catholic), Bethalto (Civic Memorial), Mascoutah, Troy (Triad), Highland, Jerseyville (Jersey)

Breakdown: The team race is a great test between three ranked 2A squads. With Bethalto (Civic Memorial), Highland, and Mascoutah all with chances of winning this championship. Drew Twyman of Triad is the boys individual favorite heading into this race, but Leo Cozzi of Mascoutah and Max Weber of Civic Memorial wont let this be an easy win for him. On the girls side its Waterloo who comes in as the favorite. They will be challenged by Mascoutah who if they have a great day could surprise. Waterloo's Cameron Crump will look to run away with the individual win.


Black Diamond Conference

Location: Hamilton County High School

Boys Teams: Campbell Hill (Trico), Carmi-White County, Goreville, Johnston City, Christopher, Eldorado, McLeansboro (Hamilton County), Flora, Fairfield

Girls Teams: 1A- #25 Fairfield; Campbell Hill (Trico), Carmi-White County, Goreville, Johnston City, Christopher, Eldorado, McLeansboro (Hamilton County), Flora

Breakdown: On the boys team side this race looks to be all in favor of McLeansboro (Hamilton County). They should score under 30 points to win the meet here. Grant Jennette of Fairfield looks to be the favorite here in this contest over Liam Roberts of Eldorado. On the girls side this is Fairfield's race to lose. They look like they will go 1 through 4 in this race.


ISL Championships

Location: Lake Forest Academy

Boys Teams: 2A- #2 Chicago (Latin), 1A- #1 Niles (Northridge Prep); Chicago (F.W. Parker), Lake Forest Academy, Chicago University, Des Plains (Willows Academy), Winnetka (North Shore Country Day)

Girls Teams: 1A- #8 Chicago (Latin), #15 Wilmette (Regina Dominican); Chicago (F.W. Parker), Lake Forest Academy, Chicago University, Des Plains (Willows Academy), Winnetka (North Shore Country Day)

Breakdown: The Latin Romans will look to handily secure the varsity team race here, but Northridge Prep could potentially surprise here and play spoiler. Individually this could be anyone's race between Simon Lane of Chicago University, Ben Gibson of Latin, Micah Weiss of Latin, and Peter Kipp of Northridge Prep. On the girls side if Mia Kotler of Latin races, we could see the Romans almost perfect score this meet.


SIRR Conference

Location: Pinckneyville High School

Boys Teams: 2A- #21 Herrin, 1A- #7 Benton, #17 Murphysboro, #18 Pinckneyville; Anna-Jonesboro, Metropolis (Massac County), Carterville, Harrisburg, Nashville, West Frankfort (Frankfort), DuQuoin

Girls Teams: 2A- #22 Carterville, 1A- #1 Anna-Jonesboro; Benton, Herrin, Metropolis (Massac County), Harrisburg, Murphysboro, Nashville, West Frankfort (Frankfort), DuQuoin

Breakdown: On the boys team side it will be a good fight between Benton and Pinckneyville. Benton was the top ranked team in classification to start the season, but have had issues developing their #5 into a state caliber runner. Lots of questions also surround Benton after Coach McLain stepped down recently. Pinckneyville could swoop in and collect a win here over the Rangers. Gabriel "Goob" McLain is the overwhelming favorite here to bring home the individual win. On the girls side this will be entirely Anna-Jonesboro. They are easily going to win this race. Miah Gilmore of Murphysboro, Jadyn Gerardi of Anna-Jonesboro, and Aleah Box of Anna-Jonesboro will be in contention for the individual win.


South 7 Conference Location: Mt. Vernon High School

Boys Teams: 2A- #12 Mt. Vernon, #24 Marion; Cahokia, Carbondale, Centralia

Girls Teams: Cahokia, Carbondale, Mt. Vernon, Centralia, Marion

Breakdown: On the boys side it will be Mt. Vernon and Marion battling it out for the team win here. Marion will be helped here by a potential 1-2 finish by Gabriel Greer and Raphael Greer. Zion Wilkins of Carbondale will also be in contention in the individual race. On the girls side this looks to be Mt. Vernon's race. Individually the race will be between Kara Odum of Marion and Sophie Krupa of Carbondale.


Western Big 6 Conference

Location: Lake Storey; Galesburg, IL Teams: East Moline (United), Galesburg, Quincy, Rock Island, Geneseo, Moline, Rock Island (Alleman), Sterling

Breakdown: On the boys side expect Quincy to walk out of this one with the team win. This is a very young team with a lot of upside. Individually it will be Isaiah Engle of Moline, Jaxson Sottos of Geneseo, and Dylan Gehl of Geneseo. On the girls side it will be a very close race between Geneseo and Quincy. Peyton Kuhl of Quincy is the favorite in the individual race.


Friday

Mid Illini Conference Location: Detweiller Park; Peoria, IL

Boys Teams: 2A- #7 Morton, #18 Washington; Bartonville (Limestone), Canton, Metamora, Dunlap, East Peoria, Pekin Girls Teams: 2A- #9 Washington, #19 Dunlap, #23 Morton; Bartonville (Limestone), Canton, Metamora, East Peoria, Pekin

Breakdown: On the boys side this is Morton's race it looks. Washington and Metamora could challenge them but they need a lot of things to go right for that to happen. Individually we will see Christian Harris of Morton, Boston Beyer of Morton, Zach Born of Metamora, and Ben Gorsage of Washington all challenge for the win. On the girls side Washington enters this race as the favorite, but Dunlap will give them a great test. Individually watch for Abbu Tudeen of Dunlap, Sophia Ramirez of Washington, and Morgan Coker of Pekin.


Southwest Prairie Conference

Location: Channahon Community Park; Channahon, IL

Boys Teams: 3A- #2 Plainfield North, #4 Plainfield South, #23 Yorkville; Bolingbrook, Joliet Central, Joliet West, Plainfield Central, Plainfield East, Minooka, Oswego, Oswego East, Romeoville

Girls Teams: 3A- #4 Minooka, #9 Plainfield North, #10 Yorkville; Bolingbrook, Joliet Central, Joliet West, Plainfield Central, Plainfield East, Oswego, Oswego East, Plainfield South, Romeoville

Breakdown: On the boys side this will be a good battle between crosstown rivals Plainfield North and Plainfield South. Individually Dylan Maloney of Plainfield South enters as the favorite after his win last year in a course record performance, but Thomas Czerwinski of Plainfield North was 5th in the state last year and will provide a great test. On the girls side Minooka comes in as the favorite but Plainfield North and Yorkville are two other top 10 ranked teams in the conference. Maya Ledesma of Minooka enters the race as the favorite individually after her 16:47 performance at Naperville Twilight.


Saturday

CCL/GCAC Conference

Location: Loyola Academy Munz Campus; Glenview, IL

Boys Teams: 2A- #4 Aurora (Marmion Academy), #5 Chicago (St. Ignatius), 1A- #2 Aurora Central Catholic, #5 Lombard (Montini); Burbank (St. Laurence), Chicago (Brother Rice), Chicago (St. Rita), Elmhurst (IC Catholic), Chicago (De La Salle), Chicago (DePaul), Chicago (Leo), Chicago (Mt. Carmel), New Lenox (Providence Catholic), Oak Park (Fenwick), Wheaton (St. Francis), Wilmette (Loyola Aacdemy)

Girls Teams: 2A- #1 Chicago (St. Ignatius), #3 Chicago (DePaul), #5 Wheaton (St. Francis), #16 Oak Park (Fenwick), 1A- #16 Lombard (Montini), #19 Aurora Central Catholic, Aurora (Rosary), Burbank (St. Laurence), Chicago (Resurrection), Elmhurst (IC Catholic), Chicago (De La Salle), Chicago (Mother McAuley), New Lenox (Providence Catholic), River Forest (Trinity), Wilmette (Loyola Aacdemy)

Breakdown: On the boys side it will be a great test between St. Ignatius and Marmion Academy who are two of the best teams in the 2A classification. Gavin O'Connor of Brother Rice and Luis Flores of St. Laurence will showcase a great battle for the conference championship. On the girls side St. Ignatius enters the meet as the favorite. DePaul could test them a bit here after their best performance of the season at the Loyola Flight Night last week. Annika Swan of St. Ignatius enters this meet as the clear favorite to win the conference title.


DuKane Conference

Location: Lake Park High School; Roselle, IL

Boys Teams: 3A- #8 Batavia, #25 Wheaton Warrenville South; Carol Stream (Glenbard North), St. Charles East, St. Charles North, Geneva, Roselle (Lake Park), Wheaton North

Girls Teams: 3A- #6 Batavia, #11 Wheaton Warrenville South, #17 Wheaton North; Carol Stream (Glenbard North), St. Charles East, St. Charles North, Geneva, Roselle (Lake Park)

Breakdown: On the boys side its Batavia who enters the favorite after a great meet at Naperville Twilight. Wheaton Warrenville South hasn't had a great last few meets as a team, but could piece it together here. Josiah Narayanan of Wheaton Warrenville South has ran great all year besides his one blemish at the St. Charles North Invite. He comes in here as the favorite but Francesco Benelli will be up there with him after his 14:32 performance at Naperville Twilight. On the girls side Batavia enters this meet as the favorite as well. They had a massive performance at the Naperville Twilight Invite. Individually it will be between Avery Hacker of Batavia and Nicole Poglitsch of Wheaton Warrenville South for the individual title.


Fox Valley Conference Location: Hickory Nut Grove Highlands; Cary, IL

Boys Teams: 2A- #16 Crystal Lake Central; Algonquin (Jacobs), Burlington Central, Carpentersville (Dundee-Crown), Crystal Lake South, Hampshire, Huntley, Cary-Grove, Crystal Lake (Prairie Ridge), McHenry

Girls Teams: 3A- #14 Huntley, 2A- #7 Crystal Lake South, #10 Crystal Lake Central, #14 Burlington Central; Algonquin (Jacobs), Carpentersville (Dundee-Crown), Hampshire, Cary-Grove, Crystal Lake (Prairie Ridge), McHenry

Breakdown: On the boys side it will be Huntley and Hampshire battling for the team win. This race could come down to a matter of single digits points. Individually it will be between Jameson Tenopir of Cary-Grove and Tommy Nitz of Huntley. On the girls side Huntley enters as the favorite. Individually the race will be between Abigail Burke of Burlington Central and Olivia Pinta of Crystal Lake South.


Mid Suburban League Championships

Location: Busse Woods; Elk Grove, IL

Boys Teams: 3A- #5 Palatine (Fremd), #6 Barrington, #7 Palatine, #11 Mt. Prospect (Prospect), #20 Arlington Heights (Hersey), Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Hoffman Estates (Conant), Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, Wheeling

Girls Teams: 3A- #1 Barrington, #5 Mt. Prospect (Prospect), #8 Arlington Heights (Hersey), #24 Schaumburg; Buffalo Grove, Palatine, Palatine (Fremd), Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Hoffman Estates (Conant), Rolling Meadows, Wheeling

Breakdown: On the boys side it will be an amazing battle between Palatine (Fremd), Palatine, and Barrington for the team win. Likely it will be single digit points that separate the three squads. Individually it will be between Joe Bregenzer of Barrington and Alex Krieg of Palatine. On the girls side its Barrington who is the favorite. They had a great race this past week at the Loyola Flight Night. Prospect and Hersey will battle for the second place finish here. Mia Sirois of Barrington is the favorite here in this race and we could potentially see something special here on a fast Busse Woods course. Scout Storms of Barrington and Veronica Znajda of Prospect will be locking horns for 2nd place.


West Suburban Gold Conference

Location: O'Brien Park; Downers Grove, IL

Teams: Addison Trail, Berwyn-Cicero (Morton), Franklin Park-Northlake (Leyden), Villa Park (Willowbrook), Darien (Hinsdale South), Downers Grove South

Breakdown: The boys side will host a great team battle between Morton and Downers Grove South. Single digits look like it will separate these two squads. Individually Alex Rodriguez of Morton enters the meet as the favorite. On the girls side it looks like once again Downers Grove South will walk away with once again another conference championship. Individually it will be Amelie Ojeda of Willowbrook who dominates this race.


Big 12 Conference

Location: Detweiller Park; Peoria, IL

Boys Teams: 1A- #9 Peoria Notre Dame; Bloomington, Champaign (Centennial), Champaign Central, Peoria, Peoria (Manual), Danville, Normal Community West, Normal Community, Peoria (Richwoods), Urbana

Girls Teams: 1A- #5 Peoria Notre Dame; Bloomington, Champaign (Centennial), Champaign Central, Peoria, Peoria (Manual), Danville, Normal Community West, Normal Community, Peoria (Richwoods), Urbana

Breakdown: On the boys side Normal Community comes in as he favorite to bring home the conference crown. Peoria Notre Dame has a lot of upside and could potentially snag the win in this race. Caleb Mathias of Champaign Central is the favorite in the individual race. On the girls side it looks to be Normal Community West as the favorites heading into this meet and could potentially score under 40 points here. Farah Scott of Champaign Centennial and Meghan Zopel of Peoria Notre Dame will be going after the individual win here.


Big Northern Conference

Location: Fuller Forest Preserve; Rockford, IL

Boys Teams: 2A- #3 Dixon, 1A- #3 Rockford Christian, #6 Winnebago; Byron, Genoa-Kingston, Rockford Lutheran, Stillman Valley, Oregon, Popular Grove (North Boone), Rock Falls

Girls Teams: 1A- #10 Winnebago; Byron, Dixon, Genoa-Kingston, Rockford Christian, Rockford Lutheran, Stillman Valley, Oregon, Popular Grove (North Boone), Rock Falls

Breakdown: On the boys side this looks to be Dixon's race. An interesting note for this race for 1A implications will be who beats who with Rockford Christian and Winnebago. Individually it looks to be Nicolai Martino of Winnebago who is the favorite in this race. On the girls side its Winnebago who looks to be the favorite to win the team title. Abagail Baumann of Rockford Lutheran enters this race as the favorite to win.


Cahokia Conference

Location: Wesclin High School; Trenton, IL

Teams: Chester, Dupo, Okawville, Salem, Marissa, New Athens, Steeleville, East Alton-Wood River

Breakdown: On the boys side its Salem who looks to potentially score under 30 points for the win. Individually this race will be tight between Cole Dachsteiner of New Athens and Robby Shober of Salem. On the girls side Okawville and Salem enter the meet as the only two teams with 5 runners on their team which will make this team race very close points wise. Caroline Tepe of Okawville looks to be the clear favorite in this race.


Chicago Public League Championships

Location: Washington Park; Chicago, IL

Boys Teams: 3A- #20 Lane, 2A- #1 Payton; Aspira/Businnes and Finance, Acero/Garcia, Agricultural Science, Alcott, Amundsen, Back of the Yards, Brooks, Chicago Academy, Carver Military Academy, Corliss, Curie, Goode STEM Academy, Hancock, Horizon/Southwest, Mather, Morgan Park, Noble Street Charter, Noble/Butler, Noble/ITW Speer, Noble/Mansueto, Noble/Muchin, Noble/Noble Academy, Noble/Pritzker, Northside, Ogden International, Phillips, Prosser, Hubbard, Hyde Park, Instituto Health Science Charter, Jones, Juarez, Kelly, Kennedy, Kenwood, King, Lake View, Legal Prep Charter, Lincoln Park, Lindblom, Marine Leadership Academy, Rickover Naval Academy, Schurz, Simeon, Solorio Academy, South Shore, Steinmetz, Sullivan, Taft, Von Stueben, Washington, Westinghouse, Whitney Young

Breakdown: On the boys side its Payton who enters as the favorite. We could see the Grizzles score under 30 points here. Lane will also put up a fight for the win here if fully healthy. Individually the race will be between Tra'Monti Williams of Payton and Jiberil Lesman of Lake View. It could take a sub 15:00 effort to win this one. On the girls side we could see Lane score 20 points here and dominate this meet. This looks to be Lane's best cross country team in school history. Jones and Northside will be in the hunt for 2nd place. Individually it looks to be LuLu Ton-That of Northside that will be the favorite heading into this one.


Central State 8 Conference Location: Lincoln Park; Springfield, IL

Boys Teams: 2A- #8 Normal University, #17 Chatham-Glenwood; Decatur Eisenhower/MacArthur), Jacksonville, Springfield, Springfield (Lanphier), Springfield (Sacred Heart-Griffin), Lincoln, Rochester, Springfield (Southeast) Girls Teams: 2A- #2 Chatham-Glenwood, #4 Normal University, #13 Rochester, 1A- #12 Springfield (Sacred Heart-Griffin), Decatur Eisenhower/MacArthur), Jacksonville, Springfield, Springfield (Lanphier), Lincoln, Springfield (Southeast)

Breakdown: On the boys side this looks to be a clinic by Normal University who could potentially score close to 20 points here. Sean Kaeb of Normal University looks to be the favorite to bring home the individual win. On the girls side its hard to see anyone beating Chatham-Glenwood here. Zoe Carter of Normal Univeristy is expected to be the top runner in this race.


Central Suburban League Championships

Location: Deerfield High School

Boys Teams: 3A- #16 Winnetka (New Trier); Deerfield, Des Plaines (Maine West), Evanston, Park Ridge (Maine East), Park Ridge (Maine South), Skokie (Niles North), Glenview (Glenbrook South), Highland Park, Northbrook (Glenbrook North), Skokie (Niles West), Vernon Hills

Girls Teams: 3A- #19 Winnetka (New Trier); Deerfield, Des Plaines (Maine West), Evanston, Park Ridge (Maine East), Park Ridge (Maine South), Skokie (Niles North), Glenview (Glenbrook South), Highland Park, Northbrook (Glenbrook North), Skokie (Niles West), Vernon Hills

Breakdown: On the boys side this looks to be dominace by New Trier here. The second place finisher in the race could potentially be double the score of the Trevians. Individually it's Ben Crane of New Trier who enters this race as the overall favorite. Evan Parker of Niles North is an excellent runner that will provide a great test to Crane. On the girls side it looks to be New Trier as the favorite here, but Glenbrook North can give them a run for their money. Josie Cahill of New Trier, Sofia Arcuri of Maine South, and Sella Davis of Evanston will all challenge for the individual win here.


DuPage Valley Conference

Location: Waubonsie Valley High School; Aurora, IL

Boys Teams: Aurora (Metea Valley), Aurora (Waubonsie Valley), Naperville (Neuqua Valley), Naperville North, DeKalb, Naperville Central

On the girls side it looks to be Naperville North's race. Neuqua Valley could potentially challenge them if fully healthy finally. Breakdown: On the boys side the race is between Benet Academy and Mundelein (Carmel) for the team win. Individually Finn Richards of Benet Academy will take home the individual win with his teammate Aiden Hulett could be 2nd place. On the girls side it will be Benet Academy and Mundelein Carmel as well battling for the win. Delilah Helenhouse of Benet Academy enters as the favorite here, but Izzy Bing of Mundelein Carmel will not let her win easily.


Heart Of Illinois Conference

Location: Lower Lake Park; Eureka, IL

Breakdown: On the boys side this looks to be Eureka's race. They could potentially score under 30 points here. Individually Tucker Hinkle of Eureka is favorite to win this race. On the girls side it will be Eureka and El Paso-Gridley duking it out for the team win. It will take under 40 points to win this meet. Adelin Bruce of Downs Tri-Valley looks to dominate the girls race individually.


Illinois Central Eight Conference

Location: Eastwood Golf Course; Streator, IL

Breakdown: On the boys side this looks to be Herscher's race here. They could put 5 runners in the top 7 in this race. Jackson Kruse of Herscher looks to be the favorite heading into the race, but reigning champion Benjamin Froeschle of Manteno cant be forgotten about. On the girls side it also Herscher's race it seems. Klarke Goranson of Manteno is the favorite heading into the race.


Interstate 8 Conference

Location: Sycamore High School

Boys Teams: LaSalle-Peru, Maple Park (Kaneland), Rochelle, Sycamore, Morris, Ottawa

Breakdown: On the boys side this will be a good race overall between Kaneland, Sycamore, and Morris who have chances of winning this team title. Evan Nosek of Kaneland and Cuyler Swanson of Morris both look to chase the individual title. On the girls side its Morris who enters the meet as the heavy favorite to win. Individually this race will be very tight between Danielle Bower of Kaneland, Layla Janisch of Sycamore, and Makensi Martin of Morris.


Kishwaukee River Conference

Location: Milky Way Park; Harvard, IL

Boys Teams: Harvard, Johnsburg, Richmond-Burton, Sandwich, Marengo, Plano, Woodstock, Woodstock North

Breakdown: On the boys side this looks to be Woodstock's race here. Individually it looks to be Ellery Shutt of Woodstock who is the favorite to take home the individual title. On the girls side its Woodstock and Richmond-Burton that will be battling for the team win. Individually the race will be won by Sunny Weber of Sandwich.


Northern Illinois -10 Conference

Location: Highland Community College; Freeport, IL

Breakdown: On the boys side it will be Hononegah and Harlem racing for the team win. Landon Samuelson of Hononegah enters this race as the individual favorite. On the girls side we could see Boylan scoring close to 20 points for the win. It will be Reese Kohnle of Boylan and Kylie Simpson of Hononegah battling for the win.


Northern Lake County Conference

Location: Bulldog Athletic Complex; Ingleside, IL

Boys Teams: Antioch, Fox Lake (Grant), Lake Villa (Lakes), Round Lake, Grayslake Central, Grayslake North, Wauconda

Girls Teams: Antioch, Fox Lake (Grant), Lake Villa (Lakes), Round Lake, Grayslake Central, Grayslake North, Wauconda

Breakdown: On the boys side this looks to be Lakes' race. They had a great day at their home invite where they beat Grant who looks to be second. Individually it will be a great matchup between Jackson Summy of Lakes, Maxx Haas of Grant, and Niko Dayment of Grant who all can be the individual winner. On the girls side it looks to be slated for Grayslake Central to take home the team win in the race. It will be a great race between Rosalyn Gonzalez of Antioch and Ava Henne of Grayslake Central for the individual championship.


Northwest Upstate Illini Conference Location: Pescatonica Middle School

Breakdown: On the boys side it looks to be East Dubuque's race here. They could score close to 20 points here. It looks like this race belongs to Andrew Richardson of East Dubuque whois the favorite here. On the girls side it's Amboy and East Dubuque who will be a marginal amount of points away from each other. It will be between Emma Christin of Morris and Aubrie Tritz of East Dubuque for the win individually.


North Suburban Conference Location: Lake Forest West Campus

Boys Teams: Gurnee (Warren), Lake Forest, Lincolnshire (Stevenson), Mundelein, Lake Zurich, Libertyville, Waukegan, Zion-Benton

Girls Teams: Gurnee (Warren), Lake Forest, Lincolnshire (Stevenson), Mundelein, Lake Zurich, Libertyville, Waukegan, Zion-Benton

Breakdown: On the boys side this meet will showcase a great battle between Lake Zurich and Libertyville. Heading into this race Lake Zurich has the slight edge, but Libertyville has had an excellent season up to this point. Karanveer Patil of Lake Zurich looks to be the individual champion here. On the girls side this meet looks to be dominated by Lake Zuirch who could potentially score under 30 points at this meet. Kaylee Wilson of Warren is the favorite heading into this meet individually.


South Central Conference

Location: Little Dog / Soccer Complex; Gillespie, IL

Boys Teams: Carlinville, Gillispie, Pana, Piasa (Southwestern), Greenville, Litchfield, Staunton, Virden (North Mac)

Breakdown: On the boys side this team race looks to be won by Gillespie. They could score close to 30 points here. Chaz Oberkfell of Gillespie is the clear favorite in this race. We could see him win by almost a minute. On the girls side this meet looks to be won by Carlinville. Elyse Eldred of Carlinville looks to be the favorite in this race individually.


Southland Athletic Conference Location: Thornridge High School; Dolton, IL

Boys Teams: Chicago Heights (Bloom Twp.), Crete-Monee, Kankakee, Richton Park (Rich Township), Dolton (Thornridge), Harvey (Thornton), South Holland (Thornwood)

Breakdown: On the boys side it should be a good team race between Bloom Twp and Thornton. Individually it looks like Caleb Haut of Kankakee is the favorite coming into the meet. On the girls side the team race looks to be won by the pre-meet favorite Thornton. It looks like Evelyn Stolzenbach of Crete-Monee is favored to win this contest individually


South Suburban Blue Conference Location: Midlothian Meadows; Midlothian, IL

Boys Teams: Calumet City (Thornton Fractional North), Country Club Hills (Hillcrest), Midlothian (Bremen), Oak Forest, Lansing (Thornton Fractional South), Lemont, Tinley Park

Girls Teams: Calumet City (Thornton Fractional North), Country Club Hills (Hillcrest), Midlothian (Bremen), Oak Forest, Lansing (Thornton Fractional South), Lemont, Tinley Park

Breakdown: On the boys side it looks to be Lemont's race. Individually it looks to be Jacob Czerwiec of Lemont as the favorite to win this race. It will be hard to see anyone beating Hannah Farley on the girls side. Lemont will likely go 1-5 in this race.


South Suburban Red Conference

Location: Bedford Park; Summit, IL

Breakdown: On the bys side its Richards who enters the meet as the favorite to win. Santiago Chavez of Reavis looks to be the individual favorite here. On the girls side its Shepard expected to win here. Molly Sheridan of Oak Lawn Community is the favorite to win the individual race heading into the meet.


Southwest Suburban Conference Location: Lockport East Campus

Breakdown: On the boys side it looks to be Sandburg's title here as they could score close to 20 points here. Individually it looks to be either one of Sandburg's top three runners of Luke Atzman, Brayden Gaffud, and Mateo Ramiro-Garcia or Braden Hoff of Lincoln-Way Central who will likely pick up the individual win. On the girls side this should be a good battle between Lincoln-Way Central and Lockport for the team win. Individually look for the names Brea Counihan of Lincoln-Way Central, Annika Trehan of Sandburg, Eliana Kaitei of Lincoln-Way East, and Madeline Mellin of Bradley-Bourbonnais all with chances to win.


Upstate 8 Conference

Location: Fenton High School; Bensenville, IL

Breakdown: On the boys side this will be a great team race between West Aurora and South Elgin who single digit points will separate. Individually this race looks to be won by Thomas Jochum of Glenbard South. On the girls side the favorite heading into this race looks to be Bartlett. Individually the favorite heading into this race is Sophia Baumert of Streamowood, but Alyssa Gregory of Bartlett could also win this race.


West Suburban Silver Conference

Location: Berens Park; Elmhurst, IL

Boys Teams: Downers Grove North, Elmhurst (York), Glen Ellyn (Glenbard West), Hillside (Proviso West), Hinsdale Central, LaGrange (Lyons), Oak Park-River Forest

Breakdown: On the boys side this race looks to be won by the #1 team in the state Downers Grove North. Expect York and Lyons to battle it out for 2nd place. Individually we could see DGN go 1-2 here with Phillip Cupial and Grant Schroder. On the girls side it will be a highly anticipated matchup between DGN and York once again. DGN looked great at the Naperville Twilight meet, but York beat them at Richard Spring. Individually it looks like Karlin Janowski of York is the favorite to win this race.
